Presented at the 2026 Health Libraries Australia Conference, the award recognises innovative projects that harness digital health, health informatics or web technologies to improve access to information and support better health outcomes.
The award, presented by Shaun Eliastam, General Manager, Clinical and Consumer Solutions at Telstra Health, recognised Sarah’s contribution to advancing access to evidence through innovative use of artificial intelligence.
Sarah’s winning project, The Evidence Review Accelerator Summ-AI-Riser for librarians: an AI tool for creating evidence synthesis summaries, uses AI to help librarians create evidence synthesis summaries more efficiently, supporting timely access to trusted research and information.
Eliastam said Sarah’s project demonstrated how emerging technologies could support librarians and healthcare professionals to access evidence more efficiently and make informed decisions faster.
“For more than 31 years, first through MedicalDirector and now as part of Telstra Health, we have supported healthcare organisations and professionals with innovative technology that helps improve both the quality and efficiency of care delivery,” Eliastam said.
Members of the Telstra Health team joined health library professionals from across the country to celebrate innovation and the important role libraries play in supporting evidence-based healthcare.
Congratulations to Sarah Bateup on this well-deserved recognition and thank you to Health Libraries Australia for continuing to champion innovation across the sector.
