1800RESPECT to benefit from the combined resources, expertise and experience of Telstra Health, DVConnect, Save the Children Australia and Marninwarntikura Women’s Resource Centre

Telstra Health, alongside DVConnect, is proud to work with specialist organisations Save the Children Australia and Marninwarntikura Women’s Resource Centre in the delivery of 1800RESPECT.

This announcement comes as Telstra Health and its specialist organisations continue to prioritise service continuity by working closely with existing service providers and the broader sector throughout transition prior to commencing service delivery on 1 July 2022.

Both organisations, Save the Children and Marninwarntikura Women’s Resource Centre, have been working alongside Telstra Health and DVConnect throughout the procurement process.

Jennifer Beer, Telstra Health’s Head of 1800RESPECT:

“We are proud to work collaboratively with our specialist organisations, who share our values and commitment to providing a high-quality, inclusive and accessible service for those who experience barriers in accessing support or those who are at greater risk of violence or harassment. This includes targeted support to Indigenous peoples and communities, and encompassing the unique needs of children affected by family and domestic violence.”
“The specialist skills and experience of these organisations will be invaluable to 1800RESPECT, enabling us to provide a service that is trauma-informed and tailored to the cultural considerations and needs for people in isolated and remote communities. This will be further supported by Telstra Health’s established relationships with Aboriginal Medical Services based in remote and regional areas”.

Beck O’Connor, DVConnect CEO:

“Through our combined knowledge and resources, and by building collaborative and productive relationships together across the sector, I’m confident in our ability to provide culturally-appropriate support through 1800RESPECT to those in our community who need help.”

Emily Carter, Marninwarntikura Women’s Resource Centre CEO:

“We are excited to be part of this journey and to come together with the other specialist organisations to collectively rethink how we work and how we can increase the accessibility of 1800RESPECT to First Nations communities impacted by domestic, family and sexual violence. This opportunity allows us to further elevate the voices and worries of our communities, and to be part of the solution in making trauma-informed support available for all who need it.”

Matt Gardiner, Save the Children Australia’s Managing Director:

“As Australia’s leading child rights organisation with a strong presence across the country in metropolitan, regional and remote areas, we are passionate about our work in trauma responses, child safety, refuges for women and children, family support programs, community development and cross-cultural programs. We look forward to working with the other specialist organisations to deliver 1800RESPECT to help create better outcomes for those affected by domestic, family and sexual violence across Australia.”
